About Ms. Morris

Abigail Morris, BA, Intern

Abigail Morris, BA

Student Counseling Intern
Welcome!
My name is Abigail, and whatever brought you to this moment, I commend you for prioritizing your mental health and am honored to walk alongside you on your journey.  For many who first attend therapy, it’s normal to feel intimidated; however, I’m here to create a warm and non-judgmental space for you to process difficult feelings, explore your identity and values, and provide support in the direction you desire to take your life.

My therapeutic approach is informed primarily by Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and in the fall, I’ll be exploring more Expressive Arts Therapy (EAT) modalities in order to better facilitate somatic and artistic expressions of healing, whenever it feels right for you. In our sessions, we can also try mindfulness, breathwork, and visualization exercises to ensure you leave each session feeling centered and ready to meet your day with intention.

Above all, I want you to know that I view our therapeutic relationship as a collaborative one that is built upon a foundation of respect and understanding to better enable your autonomy, pace and self-efficacy. Whether you’re navigating life transitions, questions surrounding identity, or longing for a private space to breathe and be seen, I welcome you exactly as you are and look forward to working with you!

Abigail Morris, BA

Abigail Rodgers Morris is a Counselor in Training at Ottawa University, where she is completing her Master of Arts in Counseling with an anticipated graduation in 2027. She works under the clinical supervision of Leslie Sherlin, PhD, LPC-S, and brings a rich and distinctive background to her counseling practice that sets her apart from the beginning of her training.

Abigail’s professional journey began with classical ballet training at age three, leading to a Company Dancer position with the Nashville Ballet at seventeen. She completed her Associate of Arts from Pensacola State College before earning a dance scholarship to the University of South Florida, where her artistic range expanded to include sculpture. Her welded piece Silence was showcased in USF’s Art House exhibit, an invitation typically reserved for graduate students, and she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Grand Canyon University, where her senior thesis CMEP explored the lived experiences of older deaf adults by translating American Sign Language into choreography, illuminating the power of creative expression as a pathway for healing and connection.

Prior to entering the counseling field, Abigail served as Ambassador Manager at Walter Productions in Phoenix, where she led a team of 25 multifaceted performance artists, overseeing scheduling, professional development, choreography, immersive event design, and employee advocacy. She also worked as an educator at the Academy of Math and Science in Peoria, integrating mindfulness techniques, emotional support, and differentiated learning for first-grade students. These experiences deepened her understanding of community, creativity, team dynamics, and the profound role that safe, nurturing environments play in human development and wellbeing.

Abigail brings this unique intersection of arts, education, and professional leadership into her clinical work. She believes that creativity and movement are not separate from the healing process but central to it, and her work is grounded in the idea that therapy should honor the whole person. She is particularly drawn to working with individuals navigating life transitions, identity exploration, creative blocks, and the places where the soul and everyday life feel disconnected. Her training in ACT and her developing practice in Expressive Arts Therapy allow her to meet clients where they are and tailor the work to what feels most alive and meaningful for them.

Abigail works under the supervision of Dr. Leslie Sherlin at Sherlin Consulting Group, where she provides sessions that blend clinical rigor with genuine warmth, creative sensitivity, and deep respect for each person’s unique path. Ask a question or book an appointment below.
