Kosmo Sherlin, K9

Kosmo Sherlin is a 1.5-year-old Labrabull and the office therapy dog in training at Sherlin Consulting Group. Chocolate brown, endlessly affectionate, and firmly convinced he is still puppy-sized, Kosmo brings warmth, comfort, and the occasional bit of comic relief to the practice.

Kosmo’s story began on a Monday evening last June when he was adopted from the Arizona Humane Society. He reported for his first day of work the very next morning and has been at the office every single workday since. He started his basic obedience training almost immediately and has come a long way. He now knows his basic commands and continues to refine his skills, including his all-important “visit,” where clients are welcome to invite him up for a few pets and where he happily accepts yummy treats when offered.

When he isn’t visiting, Kosmo can usually be found perched in the chair alongside Dr. Sherlin, still under the impression that he fits in a lap, or offering his own version of active listening during sessions while quietly resting his eyelids. His presence is always at the client’s invitation, and he has a gift for helping people feel a little more settled simply by being in the room.

Outside of the office, Kosmo keeps a full schedule. On weekends he enjoys baking himself on the warm pavers in the Arizona sun, and every day includes his signature zoomies, bouncing from one piece of furniture to the next and playing with his doggy siblings at home.

Kosmo is working toward his certification as a therapy dog and takes his training seriously, one treat at a time. He’s always glad to meet new friends, and he looks forward to seeing you at the office.
